KUALA LUMPUR – India has dispatched humanitarian aid to assist the people of Palestine during the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, announced India’s External Affairs Ministry on Sunday.

A C17 aircraft from the Indian Air Force departed from the Hindon airbase, heading to Egypt's El-Arish airport, carrying relief supplies.

“The aid package includes crucial medical supplies and disaster relief materials, focusing on essential life-saving medications and surgical items for immediate medical needs, especially wound care.

“Additionally, it comprises approximately 32 tonnes of disaster relief items such as tents, sleeping bags, tarpaulins, basic sanitary utilities, and water purification tablets,” said the statement, made available by the Indian High Commission in Malaysia to Bernama.

On Oct 19, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine, expressing condolences for the loss of civilian lives at the Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza.

During the conversation, Modi emphasised India's deep concern about terrorism, violence, and the deteriorating security situation in the region, assuring that India will continue to provide humanitarian assistance for the Palestinian people – underscoring the historically close ties between India and the region.
