THE Sarawak Foundation and SME Aerospace Sdn Bhd signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together to develop Sarawak's aerospace industry.
In a joint statement, they said the objective of the MoU is to establish a strategic partnership focusing on highly skilled human capital development and the expansion of the industry's capabilities and capacities.
"This partnership will concentrate on knowledge sharing, skills and talent development, technology transfer, and joint research and development initiatives within the high-tech fields of aero engineering and aerostructure manufacturing," read the joint statement.
The collaboration also seeks to attract additional industry players across the value chain to establish a presence in Sarawak, and promote the state's green economy initiatives, emphasising the use of hydrogen and microalgae as sustainable aviation fuel.
Sarawak Foundation Director Mersal Abang Rosli said the collaboration with SME Aerospace aligns with the demands of the local and international aerospace business community.
He noted that the partnership will contribute to Sarawak's goals of providing quality education, human capital development, and new business opportunities, ultimately fostering the creation of a high-income society in the state.
"This partnership will not only benefit our organisations but also contribute to the overall development and vision of the aerospace industry in Sarawak as a whole," Rosli added.
Similarly, SME Aerospace Director Datuk Suffian Eltrada Ahmad said the collaboration opens up avenues for mutual learning and value creation.
He expressed confidence that by synergizing their strengths and expertise, both parties can achieve significant advancements in high-value, high-tech aerospace technology and services regionally and globally. – The Vibes, March 13, 2024
