THE Honorary Consulate of Cyprus in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is delighted to invite Malaysians to discover Cyprus, an island nation nestled in the Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus offers a captivating blend of history, natural beauty, and a thriving economy.

Honorary Consul Salah Essa expressed the consulate's enthusiasm for fostering closer ties and welcoming Malaysians to explore the endless possibilities that Cyprus has to offer.

“Cyprus offers a wealth of opportunities, from its rich cultural heritage and stunning landscapes to a dynamic business environment. We would like to invite all Malaysians to come and experience the hospitality and business ventures here,” he told Bernama recently.

Salah highlighted that Cyprus is not only a haven for leisure but also a flourishing business hub that warmly welcomes Malaysian entrepreneurs.

“The island boasts a favourable tax regime, a robust legal framework, and a skilled workforce, making it an ideal destination for establishing or expanding your business. Key sectors like tourism, shipping, financial services, and real estate offer promising prospects for Malaysian investors,” he said.

Beyond business opportunities, Cyprus is also a world-class education hub with renowned universities that cater to academic excellence in a multicultural environment.

“Additionally, scholarship opportunities exist to bridge the gap and make Cypriot education more accessible to deserving Malaysian students. Cyprus beckons Malaysians with its captivating charm, offering a plethora of opportunities for exploration, investment, and personal growth,” he said.

For tourists, Cyprus offers a variety of attractions, including crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, adventures in the Troodos Mountains, and a deep dive into the island's rich history through its captivating archaeological sites.

Salah described Cyprus as a Mediterranean gem with a rich tapestry of history and culture, whose strategic location has made it a crossroads of civilisations.

“The influences of Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, and Ottomans have left their mark throughout the island,” he added.

“This diverse heritage is reflected in the island's stunning archaeological sites, Byzantine churches, and medieval castles. Cypriot culture is a vibrant blend of traditions and modernity, expressed through its warm hospitality, delicious cuisine, and lively festivals,” he said.

Salah also noted that Cyprus offers a delightful fusion of Greek, Turkish, and Middle Eastern influences, with dishes like souvlaki, moussaka, and halloumi cheese. Visitors can indulge in the traditional meze—a selection of small plates that provide a comprehensive exploration of Cypriot flavours.

“The options don’t stop there; there are numerous halal places, especially in cities like Paphos, Nicosia, and Larnaca. Together, let us build bridges of friendship and collaboration,” he said. – August 18, 2024.
