SC celebrates graduation of second investED Leadership Cohort

The graduation underscores the programme’s growing momentum as a key capital market initiative aimed at producing future-ready talent

THE Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has marked a significant milestone in its flagship graduate development initiative, with over 190 participants completing the second cohort of the investED Leadership Programme.

Officiated by Director General of Higher Education, Datuk Professor Dr Azlinda Azman, the graduation underscores the programme’s growing momentum as a key capital market initiative aimed at producing future-ready talent.

First announced by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in June 2023, investED is the first collaborative effort of its kind involving the SC, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Higher Education, the capital market industry, and Malaysian universities. It is part of a broader strategy to enhance graduate employability and strengthen Malaysia’s human capital.

In just two years, the programme has trained 368 graduates, with 233 already securing employment. The second cohort, launched in August 2024, attracted over 1,200 applications. Following an intensive month-long classroom training at the Asia School of Business, successful candidates were placed with capital market firms for six months of hands-on experience.

“investED is more than just a training programme – it is a bridge between classroom learning and career building,” said SC Chairman Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi.

“Beyond equipping our young talent with skills, the programme also builds their confidence, drives industry growth, and nurtures a new generation of professionals for Malaysia’s capital market.”

Applications for the third cohort are now open until 30 June 2025. Selected participants will receive a monthly allowance of RM2,400 during the programme.

In parallel, the investED Foundation Programme, delivered by the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), continues to exceed expectations. In 2024, enrolment surpassed its annual target by 25%, with more than 1,000 students participating.

To date, investED has held 44 career talks and 13 career fairs across Malaysia, reaching over 110,600 students. Of these, 13,500 have attended career talks – well above the three-year target of 9,000, achieved in under two years. - April 24, 2025
