CHINA Customer Relations Centre (CCRC) and digital transformation leader iSoftStone have been awarded Malaysia Digital (MD) Status by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), paving the way for major investments in AI-driven operations and high-value job creation across the country.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, during an official visit to China, cited that CCRC, which was founded in 2007 and serves Fortune 500 clients including Alibaba, Tencent, and Ping An, operates with over 20,000 employees across 12 delivery centres in China, the United States, and Southeast Asia.

The company leverages proprietary AI tools and human expertise to optimise e-commerce, fintech, and smart logistics operations through omnichannel support.

Pursuant to the visit, MDEC said in a statement. “Today’s meeting with CCRC marked the formal awarding of MD Status to the company, which will support its planned investment in Malaysia to establish multilingual, AI-powered customer experience (CX) hubs across Johor, Perak, and the Central Region.”

The meeting also explored the creation of an Intelligent Customer Contact Centre to support Malaysia’s government sector – a key initiative under the national Digital First strategy.

Meanwhile, iSoftStone – a global digital transformation powerhouse with more than 40,000 employees – also received its MD Status in recognition of its commitment to Malaysia as a strategic base for its Southeast Asian expansion.

The company specialises in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, and the Internet of Things, serving Fortune 500 clients and public sector partners under its “Digital Intelligence +” strategy.

Discussions with iSoftStone focused on the establishment of a Strategic AI Offshore Development Centre (ODC) to serve the company’s strategic partners, as well as potential academic partnerships between Chinese and Malaysian universities to develop a skilled talent pipeline.

“We are particularly excited about iSoftStone’s participation in the upcoming ASEAN AI Malaysia Summit and SCEKL25, where they will showcase their cutting-edge humanoid robotic technology,” MDEC noted.

This collaboration is set to position Malaysia as iSoftStone’s regional hub for smart digital transformation and AI integration, further cementing the country’s role as a leader in Southeast Asia’s digital economy. - July 30, 2025
