THE Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today launched the first leg of its nationwide NIMP CoSIF roadshow in Penang, aimed at expanding financing opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and mid-tier companies (MTCs) operating within the manufacturing ecosystem.

The New Industrial Master Plan 2030 Strategic Co-Investment Fund (NIMP CoSIF) was introduced in February 2025 by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry in collaboration with the SC.

The scheme is designed as a public-private co-investment initiative to bolster businesses aligned with the 21 strategic sectors outlined under Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030).

With an initial fund allocation of RM131.5 million, NIMP CoSIF employs a blended financing model that incorporates capital market instruments such as equity crowdfunding (ECF) and peer-to-peer (P2P) financing. It aims to channel strategic growth capital into high-potential enterprises and support national industrialisation objectives.

Addressing participants at the roadshow, SC Chairman Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi said the initiative was closely aligned with the regulator’s 5-Year Roadmap to strengthen access to market-based financing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and MTCs.

“It exemplifies the whole-of-nation approach — one that supports Malaysia’s industrial goals and recognises the vital role of MSMEs and MTCs as the engine of sustainable economic growth,” he said. “By harnessing the depth and innovation of our capital market, NIMP CoSIF addresses funding needs through mobilisation of strategic growth capital.”

He added, “By reducing funding risks and unlocking capital via equity crowdfunding and peer-to-peer platforms, CoSIF accelerates access to growth capital for these companies. It also supports strategic sectors outlined in the New Industrial Master Plan 2030.”

The Penang roadshow featured information sessions for local businesses and ecosystem stakeholders, focusing on how alternative financing mechanisms can complement or replace traditional lending routes for manufacturers.

The SC has confirmed that subsequent roadshows will be held in Kuala Lumpur and Johor before the end of the year to further expand awareness and accessibility of the scheme nationwide.
