KUALA LUMPUR – Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) announced the resignation of its non-independent non-executive director Datuk Seri Asri Hamidin @ Hamidon with effect from January 5.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, TNB said Asri, 56, shall also cease as the chairman of the board tender committee and as a member of the board nomination and remuneration committee and board long-term incentive plan committee, on the same date.

“The board of directors would like to express its appreciation to Asri for his contribution to the company,” TNB said.

In a separate filing, TNB also announced the cessation of office of Faisal @ Pisal Abdul Ghani, 44, as alternate director to Asri with effect from Jan 5, 2023.

Asri was previously appointed as the country’s Treasury secretary-general on May 1, 2020.

He has served in the public service for 26 years after joining as an assistant director at the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister's Department on June 1, 1994, and held various positions in the Finance Ministry including Treasury deputy secretary-general (Policy); Government Investment Companies Division secretary and Investment, Minister of Finance Incorporated and Privatisation Division deputy secretary. – Bernama, January 6, 2023
