A FILM released by national oil company Petronas in commemoration of the Kaamatan Harvest Festival aims to highlight the importance of cultural preservation and unity.
An exclusive preview of the 4.55 minute film titled “Linundus Do Koubasanan” or “Seindah Tradisi” was done at a mall in Kota Kinabalu recently, attended by Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan.
The story of "Linundus Do Koubasanan" centres on Fridden, a young boy tasked by his father to help with preparations for the Kaamatan celebration.
The father also hands him a book on the various Kadazan, Dusun cultures.
Fridden is tasked to write down all he did for the day and while being playful at times gets chided by his father when he gets out of line.
Various aspects of the community’s way of life, traditional practices and local dialects to challenges and successes of their daily lives served as the background for the story.
The film was produced under the joint direction of Bebbra Mailin and Rewan Ishak.
Petronas Group senior general manager of strategic communications, relations, and strategic Communications, Siti Azlina Abdul Latif, said the video aims to highlight the importance of cultural preservation.
