DOLLY Parton on Monday withdrew herself from consideration for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, because she wanted to make a rock record first. A few days later she would receive an offer from producer/engineer Steve Albini, who's helped several artists get inducted, reported Consequence.

This year's class of inductees include Eminem, Rage Against the Machine, Beck and Kate Bush.

Parton, 76, in a statement, wrote, "I do hope the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will understand and will be willing to consider me again – if I'm ever worthy.

"This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock ‘n’ roll album… which I have always wanted to do!”

Albini is known for his work with Nirvana, Pixies, PJ Harvey, The Stooges, Jarvis Cocker, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Manic Street Preachers, among others. He retweeted Parton’s statement, asking: “Dolly Parton do you like analog recording”.

If Parton does make a rock record, she would doubtless have her first pick of collaborators. Her husband, a “total rock ‘n’ roll freak”, would lend his support, too.

Parton has just published her first novel with the help of James Patterson, Run, Rose, Run. Last month, she announced that she’d be covering 100% of the college tuition for all Dollywood employees. – The Vibes, March 18, 2022
