Starring Shunsuke Michieda of J-pop boy band Naniwa Danshi, Moka Kamishiraishi, and Ikki Sawamura, this detective show, produced by Nippon TV, is based on the hit Kindaichi manga series with over 100 million copies sold to date and is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
As the grandson of legendary private detective Kosuke Kindaichi, Hajime Kindaichi has a lot to live up to, so when a series of seemingly unsolvable murders take place throughout the city, Kindaichi turns his genius-level IQ to the task at hand. Despite only being in high school, the young Kindaichi is able to deduce and solve where other detectives fall flat. Accompanied by his childhood friend Miyuki, Kindaichi’s abilities bring him to the attention of the chief inspector of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Isamu Kenmochi, and the trio work together to solve the unsolvable and bring those responsible to justice.
Starring Shunsuke Michieda (Konya Sekai kara kono Koi ga Kietemo, Vanishing My First Love) as genius boy detective, Hajime Kindaichi; Moka Kamishiraishi (Akira and Akira, Chimudondon) as Kindaichi’s childhood friend, Miyuki Nanase; and Ikki Sawamura (Masquerade Night, Night Doctor) as Isamu Kenmochi, the chief inspector of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, The Files of Young Kindaichi is the latest in a line of Japanese productions to be announced as part of Disney’s burgeoning 2022 Apac content slate.
