ACTOR Jeremy Renner has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home following a snowplow accident that occurred on January 1.
Renner confirmed the news himself in a tweet on January 16, stating that he is looking forward to watching the season premiere of his Paramount+ series ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ at home.
The incident occurred when Renner was trying to help a family member remove their car from being stuck in the snow. Unfortunately, Renner's snowplow ended up running him over, causing blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.
As a result, Renner underwent two surgeries the following day. The actor’s snowplow was a PistenBully or Sno-Cat, an extremely large piece of snow removal equipment weighing at least 6,500kg.
Despite being on the mend, friends according to a report by Daily Mail, sources close to the actor revealed that Renner's injuries are much worse than feared and that he “nearly bled out” and “almost died” while waiting for help to arrive.
“It is much worse than anyone knows. Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there,” a source told Radar Online.
“The right side of Jeremy's chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed. He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury.”
The actor is aware of the extent of his injuries and has a long road to recovery ahead of him, with friends saying it could take up to two years before he is back in fighting shape.
In a previous statement, Renner's family expressed their gratitude for the doctors and nurses who treated him.
“We would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families.”
The family added they were “tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from [Renner’s] fans.”
Renner, who is known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also received support from his Avengers co-stars including Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, the Russo Brothers, Chris Pratt and more, who all sent Renner well wishes on social media after his accident.
In a video post published January 5 on social media, Renner appeared in good spirits as he joked about having a spa day in the hospital. The actor’s eye was swollen shut in the video, and he was seen breathing out of an oxygen mask. – The Vibes, January 18, 2023
