A CHINESE National School (SJKC) teacher has expressed concerns over effective teacher considering the preschool where he teaches will be accepting 25 Malay students next year.

The male teacher explained that the number is considered large because a whole class can be formed without even involving Chinese students.

According to him, the question arises as to how the teachers will teach the students who will communicate in the national language with each other.

"Let's say a class of 30 students, how can a teacher teach Chinese? Not to mention other subjects that are in Chinese such as Science, Mathematics, History and others?

"Because it is confirmed that the many Malay students will not communicate in Chinese," he said as reported by mStar.

The teacher believes that this situation may be due to the declining birth rate of the Chinese community.

This was acknowledged by netizens who claimed that the trend was becoming more pronounced when the Department of Statistics Malaysia expected only around six percent of Chinese babies to be born this year.

“I expect in 10 to 15 years, all SJKCs will be closed and converted into national schools,” he said.

A netizen who said he was a Chinese, shared that many of them nowadays opted for a child-free marriage.

"As a Chinese, I am also not sure why. There are those who send their kids to international schools which are expensive.

"This forces them not to have more than two children," he said.

Another netizen said many Chinese from Malaysia had migrated to other countries also. - November 5, 2025
