FIVE students were expelled while three others were suspended after being found to be involved in a fight at a school in Sungai Petani on Monday.
The Kedah State Education Department (JPN) in a statement said announced that strict action would be taken and there would be no compromise on the issue of bullying, violence and student misconduct.
According to the statement, JPN took the fight incident involving a group of students from a secondary school seriously.
"The school has completed a thorough internal investigation. Strict punishment including suspension and expulsion have been taken against the students involved," said the Kedah JPN.
It was earlier reported that a form four student was remanded for three days to assist in the investigation into the case of a 16-year-old male student who claimed to have been beaten until he fainted in a dormitory early Monday morning.
The victim was found unconscious in the school toilet by a teacher before being taken to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) for treatment.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said that the victim's mother received a call from the schoolteacher at 9.05 am, informing her that her son had been found unconscious in the toilet. – November 27, 2025
