PUTRAJAYA – The Education Ministry has assured that the school which was recently robbed of RM109,000 in financial aid will be reimbursed before the start of the next term.

Speaking to reporters at the ministry complex here, minister Fadhlina Sidek gave her guarantee that the early school aid payment will be distributed to the school’s students before the March school session.

“The money (which was stolen) will be reimbursed to them (the school). Don’t worry,” she said briefly when asked to comment on the matter.

She added that her ministry is waiting for Finance Ministry approval before the funds can be distributed.

On Tuesday, it was reported that a headmaster had withdrawn money from a bank and placed it in a bag in the front passenger seat of his car while he went to a nearby shop to buy a drink in Semenyih.

When the victim returned to his car afterwards, the windscreen on the rear passenger side was broken and the bag containing the cash was missing.

According to Kajang district police chief Mohd Zaid Hassan, the 50-year-old headmaster said that it was normal for him to make such a transaction without a police escort.

Fadhlina later confirmed that the principal had breached standard operating procedures for cash withdrawals for official use by not having a police officer or another teacher with him.

“The headmaster is being investigated according to public codes of conduct.

“The Selangor Education Department has met with the headmaster and will notify us about the investigation outcome,” she said today. – The Vibes, January 19, 2023
