KUALA LUMPUR – It’s now the midway point in the campaign for the 15th general election and candidates have been campaigning relentlessly in good weather and bad.
The year-end monsoon season has struck, forcing campaign schedules to change in some areas due to flooding, as candidates abandon walkabouts and ceramah programmes to help with the evacuation of flood victims and other relief work.
Still, one week of campaigning has seen them visit tiny, backwater villages and vibrant markets, and take the stage at night for ceramahs.
Between all this hustle and bustle, the candidates will also inspect their election machinery or operations rooms to lend inspiration to volunteers and campaign workers. They also visit other constituencies to support campaigning by allies and colleagues fielded there.
The Vibes’ visuals team, which has been on the campaign trail around Malaysia, has captured some of these candidates in action.
There are six days of campaigning left before polling day on November 19, and a flurry of events and mega-ceramahs are expected in the coming nights. All campaign activities must stop before midnight on polling day.
A total of 21.1 million Malaysians are eligible to vote in the national polls – a sizable jump from the 14.9 million registered voters in the 2018 general election.
More than six million new voters include those from the 18- to 20-year-old age group and those who have been automatically registered as voters. – The Vibes, November 13, 2022
