IN a heartwarming display of Malaysian hospitality, a tourist from China who mistook a Hari Raya open house for a restaurant and wanted to leave, was instead invited in to enjoy the delicacies.

In a TikTok video posted by  @lindaproton, the 'guest' was served soto, nasi beriani, kuah kacang, ayam masala and other local favourites.

"The tourist from a nearby hotel walked in thinking it was a restaurant and was later embarassed and wanted to leave.

"However, this being Malaysia, we insisted he join us ... he enjoyed the food, later said thank you and left," read the video caption.

The video has since gone viral with netizens praising the host for their warm hospitality.

"Regardless of race or religion, everyone in Malaysia is always welcome to enjoy a good meal," said one netizen. - April 27, 2025
