KUALA LUMPUR – In an attempt to ramp up the vaccination rate in Perak, Ipoh Timur MP Wong Kah Woh and Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee have launched the first mobile vaccination centre (PPV) in the state.
The Pinji Kinta Vax on Wheels Initiative will provide up to 402 jabs per day, according to a report by the Ipoh Echo.
It is understood that this mobile PPV is fully air-conditioned and has an atmospheric air-flushing system to ensure sterilised ventilation.
Pasir Pinji constituents will no longer need to travel far to get their jab, as the mobile PPV will drive to their neighbourhoods, where they are tasked with registering walk-ins at residential areas.
“This initiative prioritises the elderly, persons with disabilities, digitally illiterate and vulnerable groups with accessibility and transport issues,” said Lee during the launch of the initiative yesterday.
“The capacity will be increased in the near future, depending on the number of people who will be and have been vaccinated.”
The DAP Youth chief said the initiative will provide the Covid-19 vaccination for free.
The pilot project will start operations on Saturday, and is currently available only for Pasir Pinji constituents.
“As a start, the mobile PPV will be situated at Taman Hoover, before proceeding to other places such as Taman Pinggir Sg Pasir Pinji and SJKC Sam Chai in Taman Happy,” said Lee.
“This initiative is one of many to ensure Perak transitions into Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan as soon as possible.” – The Vibes, August 5, 2021
