ALTHOUGH Halloween celebrations across the world will be somewhat muted this year, all is not lost. You can still scare your friends from a distance, whether online or in a safe, socially-distanced environment. Here are some inspiring - and frightening - makeup looks from Instagram that will do the trick, whether in person or on social media.
The most terrifying
Young makeup artist Lance Aguas (@lanceaguas), who has over 300,000 followers on Instagram, came up with this painstaking look that will strike fear into your friends' hearts. Skip the ghosts, spiders and pumpkins - here is a cyborg skeleton that will make everyone shriek. You can recreate one side of the face fairly easily with a colored contact lens, but the other will need some makeup mastery.
The most fantastic
Chilly, striking colors are what you need to get this pale, scary clown look from German influencer Jellina (@jellina) down. Somewhere between romance and horror, this character is certain to unsettle your friends. Especially as it's simple to do, provided you have all the necessary makeup. Jellina chose a pallid base, a blue mouth, and turquoise and white motifs.

This extremely elaborate makeup look will need some meticulous work. But the result is nothing short of spectacular. French Juliekrief_makeupartist (@juliekrief_makeupartist) has turned herself into an evil siren, as she explains, noting that she was inspired by a creation from @the_wigs_and_makeup_manager. Entirely covered in black and gold, with several accessories, this half-witch-half-skeleton woman won't go unnoticed on Halloween night, whether in person or on screens.
The most glamorous
Makeup enthusiast Gerys (@glambygerys) invites you to the gates of hell with this special makeup look in red and black, two classic Halloween colors. Who would have thought that a face so frightening could also be so glamorous? That's thanks to the beauty of the eye makeup, with the extra-long, extra-voluminous lashes, and the vivid red lip set off by the black contour.
