BILLIONAIRE Vincent Tan is selling his asymmetrical multi-hull superyacht, Asean Lady. It is on the market for €30,500,000 (about RM145,492,205), reported the Daily Mail.
The Cardiff City FC owner's 88-metre yacht is distinctive in that it resembles a proa. Its hull can be traced to the designs of the bamboo canoe used for centuries by people of the South Pacific.
Its sellers, the Singapore-based Raffles Yacht Group, says this feature has given the yacht more space. In turn, it has larger windows, stability at anchor and stability while cruising.
When the Indian Ocean tsunami struck in December 2004, the yacht was anchored off Phuket, Thailand.
Its singular design has allowed it to remain intact.
Raffles Yacht Group says her escape was a testament to her design. She was crowned Most Innovative Motor Yacht by Showboats International in 2005.
'Asean Lady' has eight staterooms, sleeping up to 18 guests.
The largest room, the master cabin, covers 160 sq m and comes complete with a private balcony and an office.
The vessel's bathroom, meanwhile, comes with twin sinks, a bathtub and a separate shower.
Other highlights include a sweeping feature staircase, a yawning lounge and bar, a karaoke room, and a dining room with a large banquet table.
The yacht also has a helipad and room to store a collection of jet skis.
Not to be outmatched is the materials used in the interiors. The yacht is all polished woods, mosaic tiles, neutral-coloured textiles and artworks. There are intricate wood carvings to boot.
In terms of performance, Asean Lady can reach speeds of up to 15 knots. It boasts a 2,000hp engine and features forward and aft drives so she can "walk sideways" into berths.
