SKATEBOARDERS, musicians, street art enthusiasts and B-boys will be coming together to celebrate hip-hop through sport, dancing, and art at the Ewan Lane Festival happening this weekend in Kota Kinabalu.
This is Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu’s first festival of urban culture where street artists, skateboarders and music artists will take over the front of the hotel on Saturday and Sunday (December 17 and 18).
The Ewan Lane Festival will feature some of the most influential and diverse Sabahan artists performing alongside emerging young local talents from KK city taking part in street art jam sessions painting 10 cubes, with also the best riders from Sabah coming together promoting the sport of skateboarding to visitors.
“Extreme sports have regained enormous popularity in Sabah, especially since its debut in the recent Olympic event. The local skateboarding community in Sabah aims to nurture talents to become future high-performance athletes representing Malaysia for the Olympic Games,” said Azreen Amat of Jungle Skate Class.
“Our objective in organising this skateboard contest is to introduce and promote skateboarding in Sabah as a new Olympic sport and to attract people's interest to try skateboarding.”
