ANGKATAN Muda Keadilan (AMK), the youth wing of PKR, has been reprimanded for being insensitive and misguided in organising a recent trip to Hatyai, Thailand.

Its chief Adam Adli Abd Halim said he had given the AMK the freedom and mandate to organise any internal programme to strengthen the relationship among members.

This came about following a retreat they had held in Kuala Lumpur last month.

"This was a preliminary preparation for the intensive training series in all states organised by AMK central through the Akademi Keadilan Rakyat (Akar) which starts next week.

"While I appreciate the efforts of the leadership in following these instructions, they are sometimes insensitive and end up being seen as misguided," he said.

Adam Adli was responding to criticisms from Malaysians following the AMK's trip to the neighbouring country.

Malaysians took to social media to hit out at the AMK for going on an overseas trip and not supporting local tourism.

Netizens also slammed the AMK for being overzealous in organising the trip at a time when so many issues needed to be attended to in the country, especially the weakening ringgit.

"AMK leaders were so excited about the trip that they even made a poster with their faces on it," said one netizen who also uploaded an image of the poster on X.

Another netizen said: "Why not go to Penang, Langkawi or Cameron Highlands? Why choose Hatyai?"

Even Adam Adli's face was included in the poster.

“I have reprimanded them and as a leader I take full responsibility to correct the situation," Adam Adli said. – The Vibes, February 23, 2024
