THE bitter fallout between P. Ramasamy and his once DAP comrades went up another notch when the former Penang Deputy Chief Minister II said Jelutong MP R.S.N. Rayer was another crony to the Chinese - dominant party.
Ramasamy went on social media to lambast the senior DAP lawyer for describing him as ungrateful and bitter after the former went on a series of criticism against the party.
"I don’t want to stoop as low as Rayer in calling him names because he is just acting on behalf of his political bosses or trying to please them in the DAP. I have known Rayer for more than 15 years, but one thing is certain with him is that without the guidance of his party patrons he is nowhere in politics, said Ramasamy.
“His rise in the DAP is not because of his independence or leadership, but loyalty to certain political patrons starting with former DAP chairman (Datuk Seri) Karpal Singh, Rayer’s patron saint.
"I understand that Rayer has switched his loyalty bordering on servility or obsequiousness to some others in the higher echelons of the DAP."
Rayer is basically an empty vessel during parliamentary settings, shouting at the opposition members, said Ramasamy, who is now the chairperson of Urimai.
He founded Urimai, which stands for the rights of others (marginalised) when he decided to quit DAP last year after the party refused to allow him to stand for another term in Penang where he had served as deputy chief minister II and Prai assemblyman.
"Once Rayer was a political enemy of Umno, but today he rubs shoulders with the leaders. Once the party makes decisions, Rayer will slavishly or blindly follow them even if there are flaws," Ramasamy claimed.
I am glad that Rayer has accused me of being obsessed with Hindu - Indian issues. In other words, he is saying that I am addressing their rights faithfully and without fear”.
DAP’s multi-racialism is a convenient cloak to hide the hegemonic intentions of the dominant ethnic group in the party, said Ramasamy.
"By the way, Karpal never supported me in the DAP as I came into the party on the basis of my own strength, support from the Indian community and others. On the contrary, Karpal was against me in the last few years before his death."
"Rayer can call me bitter, ungrateful, opportunist and others. Using these terms actually means I have done the right thing to leave the DAP. Why should I be grateful to a party that has no interest whatsoever in addressing the woes of the Indian community."
The party might reward certain Indian leaders for their blind servility, said Ramasamy.
"Certainly, Ramasamy is not the person who will kowtow to the “towkays” in the DAP."
Whether the Pakatan Harapan - led unity coalition leaders admit it or not, Urimai was the source of panic in the recent Kuala Kubu Baru (KKB) state by - election in Selangor.
"Urimai’s call not to support the PH/DAP candidate resulted in a low Indian voter turnout. Without us, there would not be the RM75 million housing project for estate workers."
Urimai will apply the lessons learnt in the KKB to strike a severe blow on the PH - led coalition in the coming Sungai Bakap by-election here, said Ramasamy.
"I am prepared to take on Rayer and other PH coalition leaders in Sungei Bakap," he said. - June 5, 2024.
