JELEBU – On the heels of P. Ramasamy’s departure from DAP, the party’s secretary-general has criticised the former Penang deputy chief minister II’s “insincere” motivations.

Anthony Loke today described Ramasamy as someone who stayed with the party only for positions, seeing how the latter decided to leave just two weeks after the former Prai state assemblyman was not named as a candidate in the state elections.

“I am not surprised with his decision. However, I am disappointed that even after being given so many opportunities and holding the position of deputy chief minister, he quit because he was not fielded.

“If he really cared about the party, he would surely stay on despite not being fielded this time.

“His move was not unexpected as he never showed up in any of the DAP campaigns in the last 10 days,” he said after a walkabout in Kg Chennah here.

Loke is defending the Chennah state seat.

“We will not beg anyone not to leave the party. If their heart is no longer loyal to the party, they can leave.

“If a person chose to leave the party just because he was not given a position, it means that he is not sincere with the party,” he said.

Loke also said Ramasamy’s exit from the party will not have any impact on the party’s performance in the state election. – The Vibes, August 10, 2023
