THE Penang Hindu Endowment Board (PHEB) chairman has lodged a police report alleging criminal intimidation over fake accounts that files were removed from its office in Komtar a few days ago.
R.S.N. Rayer said there was no such incident and that since the matter has become viral, he is now forced to lodge a police report to clear any misconceptions.
The Jelutong MP urged the police to probe the matter thoroughly and locate the culprits.
The viralled messaging, which spread through social media, was entitled "Unveiling the Unspoken Narrative of PHEB:"
"Reports from Komtar reveal that this morning, between 6 am and 8 am, three PHEB staff members were observed transferring files from the 30th floor of Komtar into a vehicle, presumably for removal.
"Are the chairman or commissioner aware of this situation? Where are these files being taken?
"Is this action conducted in a manner consistent with professionalism and organizational standards at the Endowment Board Office?
"Can the Secretary of PHEB either confirm or refute the reported activities that took place in the early hours of the morning?
To this, Rayer said that the claims made were untrue and there is a need to clarify the matter to avoid a wrong perception of the matter.
Since assuming control of PHEB from its predecessor P. Ramasamy, Rayer has underlined the importance of the public understanding that the functions of the endowment board, are primarily to manage the needs of the Hindu place of worship (temples) and to help the community. – June 5, 2024.
