SIX-YEAR-OLD Albertine Leo, who was reported missing on Saturday at Eco Galleria Shopping Centre in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, has been found in Batang Kali, Selangor.
Johor police chief M. Kumar said the victim was discovered with a male suspect in a budget hotel, Buletin TV3 reported.
“The victim was rescued early this morning, and the suspect was arrested in Batang Kali.
“The arrest was made at about 4am. The victim is safe, and the suspect has been brought to Johor for further investigation.
“The investigation is being conducted under Section 365 of the Penal Code and also Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,” he was quoted as saying.
The suspect, a 31-year-old local man, was discovered to have no familial ties with the victim’s family.
The victim has been sent to the hospital for medical examination.
Albertine was reported missing at around 8.30pm during the Bon Odori festival celebration at Eco Galleria in Johor Baru.
Earlier today, Johor police chief M Kumar said two men and a woman aged between 28 and 55 were arrested at around 1.30pm in the Iskandar Puteri area yesterday to assist in investigations. – July 23, 2024.
