A JAWI teacher from a religious school linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) was jailed 10 years after he pleaded guilty to caning three pupils and kneeing one of them in the chest in June, July and earlier this month.

The sentence was handed down by the Klang Sessions Court after Muhammad Barur Rahim Hisam, 23, pleaded guilty to four charges against him.

He was accused of using a cane and other forms of aggression to abuse the boys.

"I understand the charges. I plead guilty," he said.

The four charges were framed under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.

The court ordered him to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest and imposed a five-year good behaviour bond with a surety of RM10,000.

According to the facts of the case Muhd Barur had abused three boys aged between 10 and 12 years old. - September 26, 2024
