THE Kuala Lumpur sessions court here has given Toh Puan Naimah Khalid, wife of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, temporary custody of her passport for travel to the UK and Japan on work matters.

Judge Azura Alwi allowed Na'imah's application, made through her lawyer Nizamuddin Abdul Hamid, to fly overseas for work and to meet her lawyers.

Nizamuddin requested the court's permission to hold the passport from today until Nov 11.

Na'imah, the wife of former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, had previously been allowed to travel abroad to attend an art exhibition in Venice, a meeting in London, as well as China for work-related matters.

Previously, she was also granted her passport to attend an art exhibition in Venice and meet her lawyer in London in July. In June, she travelled to Switzerland for the Basel Art Exhibition.

Earlier this year, Naimah claimed trial before the sessions court to a charge of failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice under the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act.

She was accused of failing to declare her ownership of companies, several plots of land here and in Penang, as well as two vehicles.

Naimah was allowed bail of RM250,000 in one surety. Her passport was surrendered to the court as part of her bail conditions.- October 4, 2024
