KUEN Cheng High School has denied any connection between bullying videos that went viral on social media recently and the incident involving a student who fell to her death last Tuesday.
In a statement, the school stressed that the unidentified girls featured in the videos were not their students.
"It has come to our attention that there had been attempts to link two videos circulating on social media showing the bullying of several girls with the incident (of the student falling to her death) to mislead the public and spread false news.
"The girls who appeared in the videos are not students of Kuen Cheng High School, and the location where the videos were taken is unknown and unrelated to the school," it said.
The school was referring to a one-minute viral video showing several girls hitting and kicking another girl, allegedly in a school toilet.
The school has also lodged a report and called on the public to approach the matter rationally, exercise caution and avoid spreading unverified information to prevent unnecessary fear and misunderstanding.
"Kuen Cheng High School reserves the right to take legal action against those who spread false news," it said.
Meanwhile, the father of the student has also denied that his daughter had been bullied and that the girl in the video was not her.
"I urge everyone to stop spreading (such claims). Thank you, he said in a Facebook post today.
The father also called on the public to stop sharing his late daughter’s final video message.
It was earlier reported that a 13-year-old girl tragically fell to her death from several floors of a school building in Kuala Lumpur.
The school had also confirmed that one of its students passed away.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time," the school said in a statement. - October 7, 2024
