SABAH secured 7,448 job placements as of September 27, marking a significant milestone in the state's efforts to boost local employment.
The achievement is credited to initiatives led by the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) and various public agencies.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor acknowledged the progress but highlighted ongoing challenges, particularly in aligning training programs with industry demands.
“We need strategic collaborations between the government, educational institutions, and the private sector to expand job opportunities and provide more relevant training for the people of this state,” Hajiji said at the launch of the Mega Madani MyFutureJobs Perkeso Career Carnival at the Sabah International Convention Centre today.
Hajiji urged government bodies and private agencies to work together to address unemployment, ensuring job seekers are matched with roles that suit their skills.
He also announced the integration of the state’s Sabah Jobs Portal with Perkeso’s MYFutureJobs Portal, aimed at enhancing job search efficiency.
“I hope this integration will be implemented swiftly, benefiting the people of Sabah by making it easier for job seekers to access up-to-date information and helping employers find suitable talent,” he said.
Sabah's unemployment rate stood at 7.5% as of the third quarter last year, with 166,300 individuals unemployed.
Hajiji noted that the state’s Human Capital Development Blueprint (2021-2035) is on track to improve employability by ensuring local skills remain relevant to industry needs. - October 12, 2024
