KOTA KINABALU – Ruling state coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is set to form their own presidential council, said Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

He said the proposed council will be raised in an inter-party meeting on January 11.

“Yes, the plan (to form a presidential council) is still on. We will have a meeting on January 11.

“I will officially propose the formation at the meeting,” he told reporters after handing over appointment letters to the board of directors of several Sabah statutory bodies here today.

GRS is aligned with the Perikatan Nasional federal government and comprises Sabah Bersatu, Sabah Umno, Sabah Star and PBRS.

Parti Bersatu Sabah is considered a GRS ally.

GRS won the Sabah election on September 26 unseating the Warisan Plus government led by Parti Warisan Sabah president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

GRS won 38 seats against Warisan Plus’ 32.

The formation of a GRS presidential council will further consolidate the alliance ahead of the next general election. – The Vibes, December 18, 2020
