JOHOR will become the first state to offer a premium starting salary ranging from RM4,000 and RM5,000 to high-skilled workers, said Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.
He said this initiative will be led by the Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC) and was launched on Sunday (Nov 3).
"Besides that, the Johor government via the Johor Plantations Group Berhad (JPG) signed a partnership with Japanese company Fuji Oil Asia Pte Ltd.
"They will set up a palm oil and speciality fats refinery in the state.
"This partnership involves an initial development value of RM500 million," he said in a statement posted on his official Facebook page today.
He said the Johor government also met 83 leading companies from South Korea to promote the setting up of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) and potentially bring strategic investments worth approximately US$190 million to this state.
"These new projects are expected to create more job opportunities for Johoreans in the coming years," he said.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported saying that Johor is set to become the first state to offer a starting salary of RM4,000 for diploma holders and RM5,000 for those with degrees in specific sectors related to the JS-SEZ. - November 5, 2024
