A TEENAGE girl from Singapore, who was allegedly kidnapped and taken to Kuantan had voluntarily left Singapore unaccompanied.

According to reports in The Straits Times, this was indicated by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) following preliminary investigations.

It was reported yesterday that police in Johor successfully rescued the 15-year-old girl who is from China in Kuantan.

State police chief, Datuk M. Kumar said the victim's father, a 48-year-old Chinese man lodged a report on Tuesday over his missing 15-year-old daughter.

He said his daughter did not attend school in Singapore and he believed she was abducted.

"The girl did not attend school on Monday and checks found that she was taken to Malaysia through the Woodlands checkpoint on Sunday," Kumar had said in a statement.

Following intelligence gathering, Kumar said police successfully rescued the girl from Kuantan in Pahang on Tuesday.

"We also arrested a 22-year-old man, who is also from China at the same location," he said.

The victim was taken to the hospital for a check-up, while the suspect was remanded for seven days. - November 28, 2024
