THE Seremban District Health Office (PKD) will meet with Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan today to issue a violation notice and impose a fine for smoking at an eatery in Negeri Sembilan.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced on X that the foreign minister’s office had been informed of the situation.

He said an officer from the Seremban District Health Office will hand the Rembau MP a notice later in the day ordering him to pay the fine.

He added that Mohamad had personally requested the Ministry of Health (KKM) to issue the fine and confirmed that the payment would be made.

Yesterday, Dzulkefly emphasised that no one is exempt from the Tobacco Control for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852), which prohibits smoking in restaurants.

“No one is above the law,” Dzulkefly said on X in response to a photo allegedly of Mohamad smoking at the food outlet.

He added that the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 (Act 852), which came into effect on Oct 1, would be enforced without double standards. - December 18, 2024
