AN elderly couple has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run incident and attempted murder of a man in Bandar Teknologi Kajang in Kajang.

Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the suspects, aged 73 and 65, were arrested at 11.15pm, just hours after a report was received at 4.54pm.

"We received a report from a 63-year-old woman who claimed that her 42-year-old son was knocked down by a car around 12pm on Feb 28.

"She claimed that he suffered various injuries and could not move at the scene.

"The complainant then rushed to the scene and took her son to hospital for further treatment," he said in a statement today.

Naazron said the victim’s mother rushed to the scene and took her son to the hospital for further treatment.

Naazron said investigations found that a public dashcam recording had captured the incident, showing a black vehicle hitting the victim as he stepped down from his lorry, and dragging him onto the road divider.

“The driver then fled the scene,” he said.

At 11.15 pm on Sunday, police arrested a local couple, aged 73 and 65, to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, and Section 279 of the same law for reckless driving. - March 3, 2025
