A POLICE officer tragically lost his life after his motorcycle collided with a lorry on KM9 of the Gemencheh-Batang Melaka road last night.
Tampin District Police Chief, Supt Amiruddien Sariman, confirmed that the fatal accident occurred around 7pm when the 33-year-old officer, who was stationed at the Tanjung Ipoh Police Station in Kuala Pilah, suffered fatal head injuries at the scene.
"Initial investigations revealed that the victim, riding a Yamaha Y15ZR, was traveling from Simpang Renggam, Johor, towards the Tanjung Ipoh Police Quarters. The officer was attempting to overtake a vehicle when he collided with a Hino lorry driven by a 32-year-old man coming from the opposite direction," said Supt Amiruddien in a statement.
The officer's body was transported to the Forensic Department of Tampin Hospital for a post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

In a separate incident reported today, a woman was killed instantly when the car she was in lost control and crashed into another vehicle on the North-South Expressway on Sunday, March 9.
Kulai District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Tan Seng Lee, reported that the fatal accident occurred at KM39.9 on the southbound section of the expressway at 5:30pm.
The 30-year-old husband of the victim was driving the car with his wife and their two children, aged two months and four years, as passengers.
The car reportedly skidded off the road and into the emergency lane before flipping after hitting a Proton Persona driven by a 32-year-old local man.
"The victim was killed on the spot, and the children along with the driver were taken to Kulai Hospital for medical treatment," The Star cited ACP Tan saying in a statement.
The incident is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.
