THE Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, praised the involvement of non-Muslims in supporting the development of Islamic institutions, calling it a testament to the harmonious community life in Pahang.
His Majesty said the value of community service transcends religious and ethnic boundaries, highlighting it as a collective responsibility for the common good.
“This reflects the beauty of our community, where the spirit of serving the society is not confined to any particular religion or ethnicity, but is shared by all,” said Al-Sultan Abdullah during his royal address at the official opening of the Cameron Highlands District Police Headquarters (IPD) Surau and the breaking-of-fast event in Brinchang on Thursday.
The Sultan further expressed his hopes for continued corporate involvement in community service, encouraging more companies and organisations to contribute to the development of local welfare, education, and religious initiatives.
"I hope that more companies and organisations will take part in implementing CSR (corporate social responsibility) initiatives that benefit local development, particularly in the aspects of welfare, education, and religion," he said.
"May this noble effort bring blessings and serve as an inspiration for all to continue contributing to the well-being of society."
The event was also attended by Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, the Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, along with other distinguished guests, including Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, and Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman.
During the ceremony, Al-Sultan Abdullah commended the efforts of LBS Bina Group Berhad, which generously financed the construction of the surau, valued at RM5 million.
“This noble effort not only benefits police personnel and the local community but also reflects a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“More than that, this initiative symbolises the unity and harmony between races and religions, which are the pillars of stability and prosperity in this state,” he said.
Pahang Police Chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman highlighted that since its completion on April 4, 2024, the surau has been a hub for various religious activities, including lectures, guidance classes for new converts, Yaasin and Tahlil recitations, and congregational prayers.
Al-Sultan Abdullah had earlier officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,016-square-foot surau on March 4, 2023.
The surau, which accommodates up to 200 worshippers, was constructed through a CSR initiative by LBS Bina Group Berhad.
In addition to the prayer hall, the facilities include an audio room, an imam's room, restrooms, an ablution area, a meeting room, a funeral room, a dining area, and parking.
The surau stands as a symbol of unity and harmony, embodying the strength of community cooperation across different races and religions in Pahang. – March 14, 2025
