POLICE are set to submit the investigation paper (IP) involving an activist suspected of making provocative statements to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) tomorrow.
“The recording of statements has been completed. The investigation paper will be forwarded to the AGC tomorrow for further instructions,” a police spokesperson said briefly when contacted today.
Last Thursday, media reports revealed that the police had initiated an investigation into the activist after they allegedly made provocative remarks in a video posted on their Instagram account.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Razarudin Husain previously stated that the investigation was launched after a report was filed in Batu Kawan, Penang, on Wednesday regarding a video that had circulated on the WhatsApp messaging app.
The video allegedly contained inflammatory comments from the activist, which touched on issues related to race, religion, the monarchy (commonly referred to as the 3Rs), as well as involving the security forces and the Prime Minister.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act, Section 505(c) of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Previously, a nine-minute video went viral on social media, in which the activist was accused of making disparaging remarks about a Muslim preacher and questioning the actions of the police after the preacher was believed to have made derogatory statements about another religion. – March 16, 2025
