HIS Royal Highness Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, made a visit this afternoon to the site of the devastating gas pipeline fire in Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, at approximately 2.28 pm.
Accompanying Tengku Amir during the visit were the Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, and the Director-General of the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad.
During the visit, Tengku Amir was briefed on the ongoing efforts at the site of the incident in the Incident Command Centre (PKTK), where he received a detailed update for about 30 minutes.
Following the briefing, Tengku Amir took time to meet with the affected residents, spending 20 minutes engaging with them under a specially set-up tent located in front of the control post.
Tengku Amir also visited the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) at the Dewan Masjid Putra Heights, which is currently sheltering 485 individuals from 110 families.
He arrived at the centre at 3.10 pm, accompanied by State Executive Council (Exco) member for Disaster Management, Muhammad Najwan Halimi, and Exco member for Unity and Rural Development, Datuk Rizam Ismail.
The tragic incident occurred at around 8 am yesterday, when an underground gas pipeline explosion sent shockwaves through the residential area of Jalan Putra Harmoni in Putra Heights.
The explosion sparked a massive fire, which led to 145 residents being injured, many of whom suffered severe burns due to the intense heat from the flames.
The explosion also caused significant damage, with 300 homes affected, including 78 that were completely destroyed, and over 100 vehicles belonging to residents were damaged.
As a result, some residents were forced to seek refuge in the temporary shelters established at local community centres. - April. 2, 2025
