KUALA LUMPUR – The Jasin Correctional Centre and living quarters in Melaka will be placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from tomorrow until January 4.
In a statement today, Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision by the National Security Council comes after the Health Ministry detected a total of 133 Covid-19 infections at the facility since last Friday.
A total of 1,251 screenings have been carried out, including second and third screenings.
“The Health Ministry has confirmed that there has been a sudden increase of Covid-19 cases at the facility, leading to the imposition of EMCO.
“This EMCO implementation involves 771 people, including 603 detainees and 168 staffers and their family members.”
There will be no movement in and out of the facility and visitations have been put on hold. – The Vibes, December 21, 2020
