A FORM Three student at a secondary school on the outskirts of Kangar was rushed to the Tuanku Fauziah Hospital today after suffering a seizure, believed to have been caused by vaping.

The incident occurred at around 9.35am when the student and two friends allegedly left class without the teacher's permission while sitting for an English examination at the school.

According to reports in Berita Harian, Perlis Education Director, Rose Aza Che Arifin, said when another teacher took over the task of supervising the class, the victim was allegedly dragged in by two friends in an unconscious state.

He was also foaming at the mouth.

"The teacher on duty immediately reported the matter to the school administrator before contacting the ambulance and the student's next of kin to take him to hospital.

“Our initial investigation found that the student was believed to have been vaping with a friend in the school toilet at around 9.30am.

"However, at this time, the type of vape involved has not been identified by medical officers, and we are assisting the school in preparing an initial report," he said.

He said the student is currently receiving treatment at the hospital, and his department has directed the school's disciplinary teacher and counsellor to conduct further investigations.

"The department has also informed the student's family.

"In addition, the school has sent an initial report to the Perlis Education Department," he said. – April 21, 202
