NRD denies claims of home visits by Home Ministry officers for MyKad verification
Individual shown in the image circulated on social media is not an employee of the NRD or any agency under the Home Ministry - April 28, 2025

The National Registration Department (NRD) has refuted circulating claims that officers from the Home Ministry (KDN) are visiting residences to verify identity cards.

In a statement released via Facebook on Monday, JPN clarified that the message, which has resurfaced on social media and WhatsApp, is based on an old image that has been recirculated with misleading claims.

“For the public’s information, the individual shown in the image is not an employee of the NRD or any agency under the Home Ministry,” the department said.

“The image is an old one that is now being shared again,” it added.

The department was responding to a viral image and message alleging that KDN officials are conducting door-to-door visits to verify MyKad details.

JPN also noted that the Home Ministry had previously issued a denial on this matter on September 9, 2024, which was published on the official fact-checking portal, Sebenarnya.my.

“Therefore, the public is advised to always verify the authenticity of any information before sharing it. Remember, if you’re not sure, don’t share,” the statement added. - April 28, 2025
