MINISTER in the Prime Minister’s Department for Religious Affairs, Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, has been hospitalised and placed under intensive care following a suspected case of food poisoning earlier this week.
According to sources close to the matter, Mohd Na’im was admitted to Putrajaya Hospital on Tuesday and is currently being monitored in the intensive care unit (ICU), though his condition is reported to be stable.
“He first began experiencing symptoms on Monday and received initial treatment at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur, after which he was discharged,” said the source. “However, his condition worsened on Tuesday and he was later transferred to Putrajaya Hospital for further care. As of now, he is in good condition.”
The incident prompted an outpouring of support from fellow leaders, including Datuk Seri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim, Managing Director of the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL), who visited the minister and shared his prayers for a full recovery.
In a social media post, Irmohizam described Mohd Na’im as “a role model in strengthening Islamic values and promoting unity among Malaysians.”
“At this moment, I join many others in praying that the Senator is granted a swift and complete recovery, along with the strength to return to his duties with renewed spirit and peace,” he said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with him during this time.” - May 7, 2025
