TWO Singaporeans were found dead at a homestay in Taman Taynton View, Cheras Kuala Lumpur, yesterday.
The victims, a 43-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, were found by the homestay workers before the incident was reported to the authorities at 12.53 pm.
According to reports in Harian Metro, Cheras Police Chief, Aidil Bolhassan said the homestay worker reported that she found the front door still locked and the victim's shoes outside when she arrived at the premises at 11.15 am.
He said the female worker then knocked on the door but there was no answer, before contacting the homestay manager who instructed her to open the door with a duplicate key.
"The worker then found the air conditioner, ceiling fan and television still on when she entered the house.
"The worker knocked on the room door but there was no answer and tried to open it but could not before opening the room window and saw the two individuals on the bed unconscious and the room also smelling bad," he said in a statement.
He said according to homestay manager, he tried to contact the individual when the employee informed him that the man and woman had not left the homestay, but failed.
“Further inspections found that there were no injuries to the victims and no criminal elements.
“The individuals were fully dressed and both bodies had also begun to decompose,” he said.
Aidil said checks at the location found that the air conditioner and windows were wrapped in garbage bags and taped.
“The inspection also found that there was a drug suspected to be ketamine on a plate in the room.
“The homestay also did not have a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera,” he said.
He said that the deaths were confirmed by medical personnel and the bodies were sent to the hospital for a post-mortem.
According to him, the relationship between the two individuals could not be ascertained yet. – May 17, 2025
