PUAN Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, the wife of Sarawak’s Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, has passed away.
The news was confirmed in a Facebook post by Chief Political Secretary to the Premier, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
"With great sadness, we would like to inform you that Puan Sri Datuk Amar Hajjah Juma’ani Tuanku Hj Bujang, wife of YAB Premier Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abg Hj Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abg Hj Openg, has returned to Rahmatullah at 3.34am, 23 June 2025, corresponding to 26 Zulhijjah 1446 at the Normah Medical Center, Kuching," the post read.
"May the deceased’s soul be blessed and placed among the faithful."
According to the announcement, funeral rites will take place from 10am to 12 noon at Masjid Jamek in Petra Jaya, followed by the burial at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery.
Juma’ani was the daughter of Sarawak's second Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Tuanku Bujang Tuanku Othman.
The late Juma’ani is survived by a son, Abang Abdillah Izzarim, 45, and a daughter, Dayang Norjihan, 43.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, have expressed their sorrow following the passing of Puan Sri Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, wife of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg.
In a message shared via his official Facebook page, Anwar offered prayers and words of comfort to the grieving Premier, whom he had met just the day before.

“Our thoughts are entirely with the family of the late Puan Sri, especially with Abang Jo, whom I had only met yesterday. May he remain patient and steadfast through this trial,” he wrote.
“We, as a family, offer our prayers that the soul of the late Puan Sri is granted forgiveness and bestowed a special place by His side. Al-Fatihah.” - June 23, 2025
