A DRUG trafficking syndicate that also possessed dangerous weapons was busted when four Indonesian men were arrested in a raid on a workers' hut at Ladang Kemajuan Ruta, Jalan Jeroco, Lahad Datu, yesterday.
The raid at around 4.30 pm was carried out by a team of officers and members of the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) of the Lahad Datu District Police Headquarters (IPD) based on intelligence information.
Lahad Datu District Deputy Police Chief, Superintendent Jimmy Panyau said that all the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, did not have valid identification documents.
He said further checks led to the discovery of 62.35 grams of suspected syabu, estimated to be worth RM6,858.50, as well as several dangerous weapons.
"Also seized were five bullets, an air rifle barrel and a samurai sword blade believed to be used for protection and criminal activities.
"The results of initial urine screening tests found that all suspects tested positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine," he said.
According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 7(1)(A) of the Corrosive Substances, Explosives and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958 and Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960.
Jimmy said further investigations are being conducted to identify the distribution syndicate network and the source of the drug supply.
"The police will continue to intensify operations to combat drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms, especially involving undocumented foreigners," he said. - June 28, 2025
