THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has started investigations into allegations of corruption and irregularities in the awarding of MyKiosk construction tenders by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

This follows a complaint received by the MACC from a political party regarding the matter.

MACC Senior Director of Investigations Division, Datuk Zainul Darus said that following this, MACC is conducting a preliminary investigation into the complaint.

At the same time, the Governance Investigations Division (BPT) has also begun the investigation process simultaneously.

"Apart from KPKT which has submitted a full report on the process and awarding of the relevant tenders, several parties involved have also provided documents related to this project.

"In this investigation, MACC will focus on two things, namely detecting if there are any corrupt practices and irregularities in the tender process," he said today.

According to him, MACC will also look at the entire governance process in case there are any irregularities and violations of the rules, systems and procedures set.

He said the investigation is being conducted in accordance with the MACC Act 2009.

In May, MCA Youth urged MACC to carry out a thorough and transparent investigation into the MyKiosk initiative, following public concern over its cost.

MCA deputy Youth chief Mike Chong said the party hoped the probe would produce clear and satisfactory answers from those responsible for overseeing the project. - July 2, 2025
