THE Selangor state government will conduct a special briefing for all Members of Parliament and State Assembly representatives this coming Monday regarding the underground gas pipeline explosion that occurred in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya earlier this year.
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said the decision was made during a pre-council meeting with Selangor state assembly members yesterday.
He added that the session would be open to all elected representatives, regardless of political affiliation.
“In addition, I have requested the Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly to allocate time during the upcoming sitting for the government to deliver an official statement on the matter,” he said in a Facebook post.
“The Selangor government stands by the principles of responsibility, transparency and accountability, and remains fully committed to upholding the mandate of the people,” he added.
The Second Meeting of the Third Session of the Fifteenth Selangor State Legislative Assembly is scheduled to run from 7 to 18 July 2025.
On 30 June, Selangor Police Chief, during a special media briefing on the incident, confirmed that investigations found no elements of sabotage, foul play or negligence as the cause of the 1 April underground pipeline explosion, which involved a Petronas-owned gas line.
Following the findings, the Selangor government established a special committee to review the full investigation report and propose appropriate follow-up measures.
The committee will include input from multiple stakeholders, including federal agencies, with a focus on disaster management and public communication regarding the incident. - July 4, 2025
