THE Court of Appeal has fixed 10 September for its decision on Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s appeal to disqualify the High Court judge who presided over her RM1.25 billion solar hybrid project corruption trial in Sarawak.
Deputy Registrar of the Court of Appeal, Muhammad Noor Firdaus Rosli, set the date during a case management session today.
On 25 June, a three-member panel comprising Datuk Ahmad Zaidi Ibrahim, Datuk Azman Abdullah, and Datuk Noorin Badaruddin postponed the verdict after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defence.
Rosmah’s counsel, Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader, confirmed the hearing date when contacted by Bernama.
The wife of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is appealing against the decision by then High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan—now a Court of Appeal judge—who had rejected her last-minute request for him to recuse himself from delivering judgment in her trial.
Rosmah filed the application shortly before the scheduled judgment date on 1 September 2022, alleging that a leaked draft of the decision had been prepared by a third party prior to its official reading.
On the same day, Justice Mohamed Zaini found Rosmah, 73, guilty on three charges of corruption related to the solar project, sentencing her to 10 years’ imprisonment and a RM970 million fine, or an additional 30 years’ imprisonment in default of payment.
However, the execution of both the jail term and the fine has been stayed pending the outcome of her appeal.
Rosmah was charged with soliciting RM187.5 million in bribes and receiving RM6.5 million from Saidi Abang Samsudin, the former managing director of Jepak Holdings Sdn Bhd. - July 4, 2025
