PANDAN Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has suggested that he may leave Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) following the conclusion of this parliamentary term, indicating he will not run in the upcoming general election (GE).
The former Economy Minister expressed his desire to distance himself from the political 'culture' exhibited by the party during the election in May.
While he did not provide specifics regarding the culture he referred to, the former PKR Deputy President emphasised his lack of confidence in the party's ability to eliminate it.
"The culture that was evident in PKR during the last election is not something I wish to be associated with.
"If a new election occurs, I doubt we possess the capability to purify the party of that culture," he stated in an audio broadcast of 'Yang Berhenti Menteri' on Friday.
In the meantime, when questioned about his potential candidacy in GE16, Rafizi disclosed that he has not yet reached a conclusion on the issue and did not dismiss the possibility of opting out entirely.
"If I was prepared to relinquish my ministerial role, what more for the election.
"In fact, I still have not made a decision regarding my participation in the next general election," he remarked.
Rafizi noted that he intends to embark on a new chapter without looking back, despite having played a significant role in PKR.
He even suggested that he would not seek any position within the party in the future. – July 5, 2025
