POLICE are investigating a case involving a male doctor who is accused of molesting a female patient in Penang.
Acting Penang Police Chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said three cases occurred in the Northeastern district, while another recent incident was reported in the Southeastern district.
"For the three cases in the Northeastern district, investigation papers have been submitted, and we have just received further instructions from the Deputy Public Prosecutor.
"Meanwhile, the investigation for the case in the Southeastern district has begun," he told a press conference at the Penang Police Contingent (IPK) Headquarters, today.
It is understood that the 43-year-old doctor who was previously working at a hospital in the North East district was transferred to a health clinic in the South West.
However, the latest incident is said to have occurred while he was working as a part-time doctor at a private clinic in the same area.
The media previously reported that the doctor was arrested at the South West District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 8pm last Monday.
The arrest was made following a report from a woman who claimed to have been molested while receiving treatment at a private clinic on June 29.
The incident allegedly occurred at around 11.46am when the victim was at the clinic due to a stomach discomfort.
While in the examination room, the doctor allegedly ordered the victim to take off her clothes before molesting her.
The dissatisfied victim lodged a police report last Friday. - July 24, 2025
